Burberry var stofnað árið 1856 af Thomas Burberry og upprunalega sérhæði sig í hönnun og framleiðslu á yfirhöfnum og útivistarfatnið. Burberry hefur í dag fært sig á hátískumarkaðinn og er heimsþekkt fyrir hönnun sína. Nova Check mynstrið þeirra er mjög einkennandi í mörgum hönnunum og varð fyrst vinsælt í kringum 30. áratuginn á síðustu öld. Fyrir árið 1999 var Burberry þekkt sem Burberrys - áður en "s"ið var látið falla.
